About the album
North Star II picks up exactly where the debut left off — and then keeps going. The sound is the same band, but everything is denser. The production goes deeper, the arrangements breathe differently, the weight lands harder.
Rene Postma spent time shaping the record at TwoStories studio in Zwolle before returning to Nashville, where Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas again produced. The result is a record that feels like it was made by a band that had been carrying these songs for a long time and finally knew how to deliver them.
Anne-Linn Beekhof’s voice moves through the record with more space than on the debut — the production trusts the silences more. Mark Schimmel’s guitars are further processed, further away, further into texture.
North Star II is the sound of a band finding the limits of its own palette and deciding to push past them.
