Listen

Death is the third chapter in North Star’s discography — and the darkest. Recorded in Nashville with producer Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas (MuteMath, Twenty One Pilots), the album strips everything back to what the band does best: sound that tells a story before a single word arrives.

About the album

Every North Star album is a chapter. Death closes a trilogy that began in 2017 — but it doesn’t feel like an ending. It feels like the moment before one.

Where North Star I introduced the band’s layered, cinematic approach, and North Star II explored its weight, Death examines what’s left when the weight settles. Anne-Linn Beekhof’s voice navigates that space with precision — sometimes barely a whisper, sometimes filling the entire frame.

Rene Postma and Mark Schimmel built the record around texture: bass that anchors, guitars that dissolve, production that leaves room for silence to do its work. Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas in Nashville shaped the final sound — his ear for dynamics and detail is all over the record.

Death is music you see a film to. Even without the picture.
